Curtain Wall System – Modern Non-Load-Bearing Façade Solution
The curtain wall system is a modern, non-load-bearing façade solution primarily used in high-rise buildings such as towers and commercial structures. In addition to its sleek and contemporary appearance, it offers excellent performance against environmental elements such as wind, rain, and sunlight.
A curtain wall forms the outer envelope of a building without bearing any structural load. It is attached to the building’s main framework and is designed to transfer only its own weight and external forces—like wind pressure—to the structural frame.

Main Components of the Curtain Wall System
Mullions: Vertical structural profiles that form the primary support framework.
Transoms: Horizontal profiles placed between mullions to create the grid structure.
Infills: Glazing or panels made of materials such as glass, aluminum, composite, ceramic, and more.
Brackets and Connectors: Hardware used to anchor the curtain wall system to the main building structure.
Insulation and Gaskets: Designed to prevent the infiltration of water, air, and noise, while enhancing thermal and acoustic insulation performance.
Types of Curtain Wall Systems – Based on Appearance and Installation Method
Based on Visual Appearance:
Face Cap:
Features aluminum caps on the exterior surface of the glass, giving a framed appearance.Semi-Structural:
Aluminum caps are visible only in one direction—either vertical or horizontal—creating a partially frameless look.Full Structural Glass:
No visible caps on the exterior façade, resulting in a fully glazed and seamless glass appearance.Spider Glass:
A frameless system that uses point-fixed connectors (spiders) without traditional aluminum framing.
Based on Installation Method:
Face Cap (Framed Look):
Visible aluminum profiles over the glass surface, commonly used for standard curtain wall installations.Frameless:
Glass units are bonded using UV adhesives or connected with spider fittings, creating a clean, uninterrupted all-glass look.Semi-Frameless:
A hybrid system combining face cap and frameless styles, allowing minimal visibility of the aluminum profiles for a refined, modern finish.

Types of Curtain Wall Systems
Stick System:
In this system, all components—including mullions, transoms, and infill panels—are delivered separately and assembled on-site.
Ideal for smaller-scale projects or sites with limited accessibility.
Unitized System:
Panels are fully assembled in the factory as complete modules and then transported to the construction site for installation.
This system offers faster installation speed and superior quality control compared to on-site assembly.
